Where Eagles Fly

An idyll in ideology,

your smile still lights the sky,

the magic of your memory,

you laugh where eagles fly,

and live on in our laughter,

in the friendship you fulfil,

for your heart is part

of our ever after,

and you know we love you still.

Baldy Anniversary!

Today marks three years of blogging on WordPress.  This is one of the best things I ever did.  I have founded a loyal following of readers (for whom I am eternally grateful) and forged friendships with some of the most amazing and talented people on the planet.  Bless you all and thank you, sincerely.  Keep smiling, reading and writing, much love from Baldy xxx

I Am Spartacus

I am Spartacus,
Let me take your weight,
Shelter you from horror,
Protect you from hate,
Let me share your burden,
Together we create,
History, destiny,
Let all share our fate.

I am Spartacus,
Your brother in arms,
Oh, sisters of serenity,
Your quietude calms,
Your word, be heard,
It breathes, embalms,
A blanket of blessing,
Enchanting charms.

I am Spartacus,
Let me take your weight,
Shelter you from horror,
Protect you from hate,
Let me share your burden,
Together we create,
History, destiny,
Let all share our fate.

I am Spartacus,
Let me take the blame,
If strife and trouble threaten,
Just whisper my name,
For I can break all chains,
Unfettered, I inflame,
Hope in hearts once more,
Become what I became.

I am Spartacus,
Let me take your weight,
Shelter you from horror,
Protect you from hate,
Let me share your burden,
Together we create,
History, destiny,
Let all share our fate.

I am Spartacus,
On whom you can depend,
Your loyal companion,
Until the bitter end,
I am Spartacus,
With me, you can transcend,
I am Spartacus,
A legion in one friend.

I am Spartacus,
Let me take your weight,
Shelter you from horror,
Protect you from hate,
Let me share your burden,
Together we create,
History, destiny,
Let all share our fate.

Pals (for Sahm King’s WDBWP prompt)

Sahm King refreshed my memory with an enchanting poet and philosopher called Khalil Gibran in his monday writing prompt for ‘We drink Because We’re Poets’  My poem isn’t exactly in-line with his prompt, but it is connected to an extract from Kahlil Gibran’s the Prophet (which is a masterpiece that I highly reccomend, ISBN 0-330-31972-8).

Thanks to Sahm for the prompt and reminder of this magnificent writer.  If anyone reading this has not visited We drink Because We’re Poets, please do as Sahm and the team do a fantastic job of advocating poets and poetry.  Keep smiling and keep writing, best wishes from Baldy 🙂

From Khalil Gibran’s ‘The Prophet’:

When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the

‘nay’ in your own mind, nor do you withhold the

‘ay’.

And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen

to his heart;

For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all

desires, all expectations are born and shared, with

joy that is unacclaimed.

When you part from your friend, you grieve not;

For that which you love most in him may be clearer

in his absence,as the mountain to the climber is

clearer from the plain.

And let there be no purpose in friendship save the

deepening of the spirit.

Pals

Or Carburettor, Rugby Union, Means: I Love You, Man

You leave me alone,

When I want to be on my own,

And my wishes,

You have heeded,

But you’re always there,

To show that you care,

And always when,

You’re needed.

Though hard to conceive,

You may not believe,

But I have nothing,

But respect for you,

Because you’re solid as a rock,

And when I take a knock,

You prove yourself a pal so true.

I feel lucky to know,

That wherever I go,

You’re only a phone-call away,

A shoulder to cry on,

Someone I rely on,

And you know how to make my day.

You ensure there’s no strife,

I love that you’re in my life,

And feel that I’m on the mend,

It is important I must,

Say that in you, I trust,

My pal, my mate my friend.
